I’m Mika, and I am seventeen years old. I grew up on the coast of Ceara, Brazil, until I was 13 years old. I have dual nationalities as my mom is American and my father is Brazilian. Today my home base is on the beach in Taiba, Brazil, as I spend more days abroad than at home.

I have always been very active and energetic. When I was three, I had my first horse and learned how to canter bareback before I turned four. By eight, I rode in my first rodeo. I also got my first dirt bike when I turned eight. I still love riding both horses and motorcycles in the dunes and along the beaches of Brazil.

When I was growing up, my parents owned a hotel on the beach and were avid kitesurfers. I always wanted to kitesurf, but they made me wait until I was 8 1/2 years old. Kiting became my passion. I started competing in the Junior World Championships at age ten. I was Jr. World Champion in my first competition and every year after that until I joined the Professional World Tour at age 13. Once I entered the GKA Freestyle World Tour, I also won every World Tour to date!

I homeschooled until 2017; then, I started going to the @World Class Kiteboarding Academy High School. We were a group of students and teachers from all over the world. We traveled worldwide to the best kitesurfing spots where we would study and kitesurf every day!

However, in 2019, with my busy training schedule and competing on the GKA Pro World Tour, I decided to finish high school online. I have found a balance between competition, which provides me with a globally diverse education, and success in the academic requirements of correspondence learning.

When there isn't any wind, you can find me training in my gym, surfing in front of my house, or studying in my apartment.
